Last one of the goals of the competition was to link that famous stockholm hill to the library, In the proposed project, the platform of the Stockholm Public Library is extended in order to create the connection with the new building. The expansion meets the library with a light structure to preserve the importance of Asplund’s building, while the main portion is placed in the opposite side of the site. Completed between 1915 and 1940, The Woodland Cemetery in Stockholm was designed by, at the time, two young architects: Gunnar Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz. The design blends vegetation and architectural elements, taking advantage of irregularities in the site to create a finely adapted landscape.
